Just thought we should tell you that a new album is taking shape. Its twisted DNA is spurning recording conventions in favour of a new style of high-def lo-fi we call “rough-housing”.
Thanks to all who made the summer dates in the US so much fun. May we never recover. Jason, Kay & Gregory from Casper and the Cookies totally rocked as the KJA band, never giving an inch. And Jim, also a Casperite, leapt into the fray and provided necessary hugging throughout. Frederick was the most of the most. And hanging out with Sakamoto & Rumi & JP of Elekibass was terrific as ever and ever amen.
KJA plays the following dates with Kay & Gregory of Casper and the Cookies (the right hand side of the above image) on bass & drums respectively.
The 40 Watt – Athens, Georgia – Friday 13th August (Athens Popfest)
Kaverna – Decatur, Georgia – Sunday 15th August
The Independent – Auburn, Alabama – Tuesday 17th August
Egan’s Bar – Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Wednesday 18th August
Spring Street Firehouse – Birmingham, Alabama – Thursday 19th August
JJ’s Bohemia – Chatanooga, Tennessee – Friday 20th August
Alley Cat – Carrollton, Georgia – Saturday 21st August
All the dates are with Elekibass (Japan) and Casper and the Cookies (US). Carnage!
KJA just added to a bill playing the Brixton Windmill on Sunday 18th July – its an album launch for Being 747, and Stephen Evens is also playing. He often looks like this photo:
The very wonderful Jenny Soep was seen sitting on the floor at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow during last month’s rollicking solo show. She scribbled and occasionally lifting an inky thumb to check perspective. I moved around franticly but somehow she captured me. Thanks Jenny.
The confirmed date for the HHBTM Athens Popfest in Georgia USA is Friday August 13th. It’ll be at the legendary 40 Watt venue on this truly lovely bill:

At KJA mansions a bag of 40 or so of the recent split 7″s between KJA and Velcro Stars has been unearthed. The buzzing bounciness of the KJA track, Lydia, was heard on Mark Lamaar’s BBC Radio 2 show in 2009. We’ve put them on the shop page for a bargain price.
KJA is going to play the annual HHBTM Popfest in Athens GA in August 2010 – and will tour the US around then with pals Casper & the Cookies (USA) and Elekibass (Japan).
